Checklist for new website

There are a lot of things that can go wrong at the launch of the new website. Here I have summarized the main points and common mistakes that can occur.

  • The page looks good in both Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer?

  • Is there a 404 page?

 

Search Engine Optimization

  • Have all pages a unique page title?
  • Has each page a unique meta description?
  • All pages have titles with h1, h2 and h3?
  • Do urls not contain strange characters or numbers that are irrelevant?
  • Images have alt text (alt = “image description”)?
  • The page contains a dynamic sitemap that search engines can access?
  • Links that will not work at launch is 301 pointed?
  • Google Webmaster Tools is correctly set for the website?
  • The page does not block search engines with noindex, nofollow or
    robots.txt?

 

Social Media

  • Seen you in the social media where your target audience is?
  • Is it easy for visitors to share valuable content?
  • Do all social media buttons and links?
  • Are you prepared to answer any questions and comments?

 

Statistics & Analysis

  • Google Analytics or other stats / tracking is implemented?
  • Do you save the most important goals so you can evaluate the different channels?
  • Is the tracking code on all pages that you want to hurt?
  • If you have blocked your own IP addresses for more accurate data?

 

Security & Risk Management

  • Do you regularly backup site if something goes wrong?
  • You see if the site stops working before customers notice it?
  • Do you use secure username and password for your CMS logins?
  • Have you set up routines for updates by CMS such as WordPress, Joomla and Drupal?

  • Launch is not on a Friday at 16:00 if not all are available over the weekend
  • Is everyone prepared for the launch internally?
  • Have you thought to notify customers or not?
