When it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO) , it’s important to work with a clear strategy. But how can you really help to create your first SEO strategy? In this article, we will give you the answers!
Importance of the right strategy
Like all types of strategies, it’s important that your SEO strategy is tailored to your goals. If you have no goals then that’s what you should focus on first and foremost. Once you have a clear goal, you can think about what actions you need to take to achieve these – that is, the strategy!
When we work with customers, our goal is always to increase the organic traffic with relevant visitors. Based on this, there are mainly four areas to process.
The four cornerstones
As I mentioned above, there are mainly four things that are important to work with in order to increase organic traffic with relevant visitors. To make it easy, it’s a good idea (what I consider to be) the four cornerstones of search engine optimization:
If you are familiar with SEO since before, you are probably aware of the importance of keywords. Finding and “attacking” the right keywords is essential for success in Google and other search engines. Basically, it starts with one or more words in a search engine!
To find keywords, there are fortunately a variety of SEO tools that can help you. However, before you apply these tools, you should ask “What can my customers look for?” .
Once you have thought about this, it’s time to perform a so-called keyword analysis to find search queries that are relevant in your area. Here I would recommend turning an easy-to-use and free tool like Google Keyword Planner . Through the keyword planner, you can quickly and easily find related keywords within your subject, as well as the approximate search volume on these.
Then compile these words in an Excel file and then use another tool such as Keyword Revealer to find out what organic competition looks like. Choose the words with as many searches as possible with as low organic competition as possible. Even here, however, ask the question “Is it likely that my customers are looking for this?” Before you decide to attack them.
Once you have found relevant keywords with as many searches as possible and as low organic competition as possible, it’s time for the next step in your SEO strategy – to create content.
In order to be well placed in the search engines, it is true that you have a clear content strategy and create engaging content that appeals to both the search engines and the visitors.
Guidelines for user-friendly and good content
At least 800 – 2,500+ words (experiment and see what works best for you)
The keyword must be included in the title
The page or post must have a clickable title
The length of the title must not exceed 68 characters
No longer text pieces than 4 rows
Divide the text with headings
Do not give away all information in the beginning – aim to keep the visitor as long as possible
Keep in mind that synonyms are counted in the same way as keywords
Use related keywords in the best spread post
Use at least 2 pictures (do not forget all text)
Link internally to other relevant pages and / or posts
Use bullet list
After Google introduced RankBrain in 2015, the user experience has become increasingly important in SEO. For those who have not heard of RankBrain in the past, it’s a machine-learning AI (artificial intelligence) system that is used to process and sort Google search results.
The algorithm largely focusses on how visitors integrate with your site and then sort in search results accordingly. Because of this, it is important that both your website and your content contribute to a good user experience.
All sites have a “power” which is determined by the number of high quality links. This has long been one of the most fundamental factors that determine your search engine placements, which means it is very important to actively attract qualitative links to your site.

If you include these four areas in your SEO strategy, you have good chances to succeed in the search engines. However, keep in mind that Google uses hundreds of ranking factors before deciding your location, which basically means better on more factors than your competitors!
